Who We Serve
Resident participants served at our programs include:  veterans in need, the elderly, persons suffering from substance abuse
and/or mental illness and the developmentally disabled.   We support program participants in each individual’s journey of recovery
and transformation, enabling a person with a mental health diagnosis to live a meaningful life in the community while striving to
achieve his or her full potential.

Volunteers of America of Florida is a leader in behavioral healthcare services and is accredited by the Joint Commission.

A major goal is to ensure that a program participant with a mental illness is receiving the full array of needed and appropriate
services available in the community and enable them to attain their optimal level of independence.

Services
The agency offers compassionate care that touches the mind, body, heart and spirit of those we serve.  Health services focuses
on both mental and physical health.  With a strong clinical team of service providers, Volunteers of America of Florida offers a
comprehensive scope of home-based behavioral health care. The service includes outreach, intake, case management, and
goal-driven participant-centered life plans.   

             
Volunteers of America of Florida’s emphasis is on reaching the goal’s set out by each individual.  Life Plan goals may include
areas such as training and education to gain meaningful employment,        health stability, spirituality, community participation
and family supports.  Staff support the goals set by each person, rather than direct their treatment.  Every person works one on
one with dedicated professional staff members who focus on goals and outcomes while striving for excellence in service provision
and customer service.  An individual can attain independence and lead their life in a safe and secure environment.  Some of the
locations also have a community center where individuals can become involved in a series of scheduled activities, gather to
enjoy refreshments, pursue educational goals, look for employment, meet old friends and make new ones.
