Volunteers of America is one of the nation’s largest nonprofit providers of quality, affordable housing for low and moderate
income households.

Volunteers of America of Florida currently offers safe, affordable housing to elderly residents on a fixed income in 11 locations
throughout the state.

The agency’s dedicated staff members help residents to access medical, recreational, social or educational services within
their communities. Community resource linkages may include assistance to receive food stamps, Medicare, Medicaid,
Meals on Wheels etc. Educational services may provide a resident with an opportunity to teach a class or take classes
of interest through the agency’s training courses. There are also various social and recreational support activities at program
locations. Community events are typically organized by the residents and may include bingo, cards, music or other activities
that bring the elderly residents together. Every resident lives as independently as possible, however an onsite staff member
is accessible 24 hours a day in case of an emergency. Building and apartment maintenance is also provided by Volunteers
of America of Florida
