Strong Partnerships and National Accreditation

Volunteers of America of Florida is proud to have built a highly cooperative partnership with the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. We advocate for the needs of Veterans through the United States Secretary of Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee for Homeless Veterans and were an invited participant at a 2009 White House Roundtable to discuss needs among homeless Veterans. Currently, we offer transitional housing and supportive services to homeless Veterans in nine Florida cities.

We are pleased to work in collaboration with the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development to increase income eligible housing for persons striving for mental health, elderly persons with limited resources, and vulnerable individuals and families in Florida. Our permanent and transitional housing programs encourage independence and a healthy lifestyle.

The Florida Department of Children and Families has been a valuable partner to deliver effective behavioral care services to Floridians in need. With them, we share the goal to maximize independence and an individual’s ability to life fully within the community.

The Joint Commission improves health care for the public by evaluating health organizations and inspiring them to excel in safe and effective care of the highest quality and value. We are pleased of our participation in this national accreditation process. It offers us external professional feedback to maintain our high quality of behavioral health care services. Since 2000, Volunteers of America of Florida has been accredited in behavioral health care by this prestigious professional organization.

With operations in 18 Florida cities, and services to 4,000 persons each year, we value our federal, state, county and city partnerships as well as each community organization who has joined with us in affiliation to deliver quality services to those in need.
